Summer seemed to last forever this year on Windy Hill.
And I am aware that for our Florida readers, summer actually does last forever!
Oh yeah, they "say" they get winter in Florida.
And sure they put on their red union suit, occasionally with the flap in the back, under their hoodie and burrr suit whenever it gets below 70 degrees...
But I'm not really feeling it...there's not much sympathy being generated from this ol' cold 'art for those Florida readers (all 3 of them!)
Just what kind of real mountain born Sackett calls 60 degrees "Winter"? (He says respectfully!)
'specially considering we've had nearly a week of frost on the pumpkin nights already and it's only the first of October!
And summer on Windy Hill was hot and dry, at least hotter than I can recall while living in the North East.
Now don't start thinking global warming. I do believe in cycles...and we may be in a warming trend...but...
After traveling the US, Europe, South America and even Africa. The world is much bigger than Hollywood and NYC...and more resilient than Al Gore and co. would like you to believe.
Their's is an attempt to persuade - that the world as we've known it is over...although it's actually more about sowing seeds of chaos and fear rather than fact.
And it really comes down to money.
Just look who has gotten rich chirping about global warming.
But enough controversy...let's talk about real stuff...happening Now - important kind of stuff...
Windy Hill is on fire...!!!
It started about 2 weeks ago, and has been increasing day by day!
Judy read where the decreasing length of daily sunlight triggers the color changes in the fall.
And fall is a time that passes too quickly.
There is visible change in the leaves daily.
It has been three weeks of over-whelming beauty, stunning eye candy...mixed with a touch of melancholy.
I happened to mention this to Jens. (I am in awe and continually amazed at how gifted she is!)
She said melancholy can be the result of feeling that something is missing, or the fear of losing something....
And I've thought about that...
Being on Windy Hill gives me time to do that...time to just think...
I believe she may be right.
It's the mix of rapidly changing events...
A wonderful summer, passed in a blur...
The cold north winds, starting to stir...
Days growing short, no longer fair...
Leaves falling fast, trees growing bare...
The evidence is there for all to see...
...For our Windy Hill
...is starting to chill!
And the ending of summer does bring a bit of sadness...
But yet...
We do loves that pumpkin pie, and some of J's pecan pie and leftover turkey sandwiches...
And Grinches and Scrooges and Bedford Falls angels...
...and "Silent Night"...
So we'll enjoy the shower of leaves as long as it lasts, and look forward with joy to embrace the season of change.
So for now...
"Happy Fall to All"
...from Windy Hill!
Let the adventure continue...
