The Big Thaw...
Those Florida, North Carolina and Okie flatlanders get it most every day...not so much for the northern mountain clan.
Wonderful what a little warm can do for making the world seem right...
And us new New Mexicans are getting a welcomed taste of it...Clyde, the Fox, and the Leading Lady are all finding it right enjoyable and terribly comforting.
We spent the first day in Lakewood thawing out, struck by the difference that 70 degrees can make...and simply enjoying life!
...and those New Mexico sunsets!!!
We also enjoyed the most welcoming group of people we've ever encountered in an RV campground. And we figured out why...they are all escapees...
Nooo! Not thaaat kind of escapee!
They are part of a unique RV club, called "Escapees", who have long-term lease rights to their RV lots (think ownership), so they keep them up, clean and pristeen.
They have daily get togethers (think happy hour for 70 year olds), watch sporting events together in the club house, and have pot-lucks.
It is a small, tight knit community...friendly, caring, with people knowing their neighbors. When someone is off traveling, the owners allow their site to be used by other RV travelers like us.
It started in the 80's, and it seems to work!
We planned to be here for a week...think we will stretch it to two!
It also helps that there are a few National Parks and other noteworthy sites nearby...such as ROSWELL!!!
Important: If there are no future posts...it means they got us.
...NOTIFY THE SPACEFORCE...
Let the adventure continue...(hopefully on planet earth)
